Carrots going to seed need pulled, as we still have seeds from last year. Observation says we need to plant seeds now to a) keep food coming and b) use the seed we saved so we can save some more. What good is old seed? Carrots are a great place to start, as they are a highly-coveted crop.
Observation says soil should not be bare. Once we pull these cover crop/weeds, they need mulched. Seeds can be planted on top of mulch, but not under. Purposes of mulching are for water retention and weed suppression.
There are some beautiful chard plants in row 1b. Lets harvest some and make Indian bhaji with fava beans!
